A Real Perspective of Racism Experienced by Black People in North America

Over the past year the spotlight has been placed on racism in North America. Societal events have challenged corporations to look inward and ask the important and uncomfortable question: Are we unconsciously biased?

The heightened awareness of how those in the Black community have been treated has prompted an increase in the casting of visible minorities in advertising, a more pronounced celebration of black history month, along with other deliberate corporate days of reflection. This conscious shift in behaviour is a positive response to recent events, but has the needle shifted?

On Point Insight spoke to members of the Black community in both the United States and Canada to obtain their thoughts, feelings and opinions of racism within their specific country. Many shared their childhood and adult experiences with racism, their hopes and wishes for the future as well as their thoughts on the role media has played in shaping public perception.

In this report, their shared experiences act as the canvas to understanding how corporations can be authentically inclusive. This real and raw report will equip your organization with the insight needed to successfully evolve:
